Antique Leather Luggage Restoration

In addition to our bespoke products we also offer a restoration service for antique leather cases to our customers. Many people have beautiful leather cases in wardrobes or attics that are seemingly worn out because the stiching in some, or very often all the seams has rotted. We can help - your luggage can be given a new lease of life and give you many more years of faithful service.

Quality leather suitcases made in the Victorian and Edwardian era was designed for a hard life. They were made to travel a giant empire, often by sea, or perhaps strapped to the outside of a motor car. The toughness has allowed them to last decades, often more than a century. Cases of this period have far more to them than just toughness though, they have a wonderful character and patina, and a grace and elegance simply unavailable in current products.

We are passionate about antique leather luggage of this period, and we'd be delighted to talk to you about items you may wish to have restored. We may also be interested in buying cases and luggage of a suitable quality should you wish to part with items you have. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

An example of our work

This is a c. 1920s cartidge case restored by us on behalf of a client recently. The majority of the stitching had rotted and needed replacing, but the leather was largely sound, though in need of TLC. The minimum of work was done to keep the case as original as possible and to restore functionality as the case is intended to be used for its original purpose post restoration. The finished case shows that whilst leather cases may be marked when used develop a character and patina that only getts better with use.
