Belt Sizing Guide

Your belt will be made to measure for you, so its important that you give us the right size when you order! Our belts have seven holes punched in them, giving you 6 inches of adjustment, and the measurement you order will be the centre hole of  those 7 holes  (hole #4). We will make your belt specifically for you so can happily accomodate different numbers or layouts of holes, 1/2" sizes, etc, etc, just let us know what your requirements are.

There are several ways you can workout the size you need, in order of preference and accuracy.

  1. 1 - Measure an existing belt. This is by far the best method of getting your size just right. Dont include the buckle, but measure from the very end of the leather where the buckle is to the hole you like the best. If your belt is very thin or stretchy you should add 1/2 an inch. The size you produce using this method should be about the same as that produced by method 2 if you wish to cross reference.

  2. 2 - Add 2" to the waist size of your trousers. For eg if you wear a 30" waist you should order a 32" belt. If on the other hand you wear a 30" waist, but they are a bit of a struggle, your probably have a 31" waist so should order a 33" belt.

  3. 3 - Measure around the waist of a pair of trousers you'll wear with your belt. Do this whilst wearing them, and measure with your tape measure running through your belt loops. Dont pull it too tight! Round your size up, not down, so if you measure 38 1/4" (for eg) order a 39"

Please remember, you can always wear a belt thats too long (though you shouldn't have to), but you can never make it longer if its too short! If in doubt give us a slightly too long rather than too short a measurement. At the very least cross check that the size your order is your genuine trouser size + 2 inches.

Heavy weight and Lined and Raised Belts

The directions above work correctly for our standard 3.5-4mm bridle leather belts. For our heavier belts such as the 5mm Russet, The Scott Harness leather belt, and the Lined and Raised belt family you should add an extra 1/2" to accomodate the additional substance of these belts. If the guide above produces a size for you of 36" (for eg) a 36 1/2" should be just right in one of these heavier belts.
