All of our hardware, be it buckles, keepers or half check chains has three things in common. - They are made from a solid metal, be it brass, stainless steel or nickel. Unlike the vast majority of our competitors we never use plated fittings that inevitably rust or the plating rubs off over time.
- They are all sourced from the saddlery trade and are made in England. That is they are designed with centuries of experience of how to create items that are beautiful, functional and strong.
- They are over engineered for the purpose intended. The construction of all the items has been battle tested in the horse world and the designs have been proven to be more than strong enough to last in that world. As a consequence the fittings will last nearly indefinitley in the applications in which we use them.
The majority of the bucles that we use are actually harness buckles of a design that is centuries old. Our stock bucles are
- Headcollar Roller
- West End
- Flat West End
- Swelled Front West End
- Swage Sided
- London Dee
- Stirrup Buckle
The brass and nickel versions of these designs are sand cast in the traditional manner in Walsall, as our all our brass belt loops. The Stainless Steel buckles are produced using the lost wax method of casting. For a brief guide to cleaning your Brass and Nickle fittings plese see our cleaning guide here
