| What is Bridle Butt |
|
What is Bridle Butt? Bridle Butt is a very specific term, and refers both to the type of leather and the the area of the cow that it came from. Bridle leather as a type of leather and its uses is discussed here. The Butt part of Bridle butt refers to the section of leather taken from behind the shoulder to the tail of the cow, and is typically sub devided down the spine into to two sections (each called a bend) that are c. 24" deep and 60" long. This is the prime cut of leather, the shoulder region is inconsistent in quality and thickness and may be heavily scarred (typically due to barbed wire), and the belly region is soft and lacks the substance to make long lastingly solid leather.
