Alligator is a CITES listed species so commercial use of the skins is strictly controlled and as well as buying the finest quality we of course make sure all our skins are sourced in compliance with the regulations. As a result, currently within the EU we simply need to ship straps with a copy of the paperwork of the skin proving its provenance and source.
For customers outside of the EU we are able to apply for correct CITES permits for your strap for a small fee, ensures your strap complies with all of the relevant laws, won't cause customs hassle and maintains its resale value if you rotate your watch or strap collection.
As proponents of ethical and transparent sourcing and sustainable use of leather we don't just comply with the regulations to make sure your strap sales through Customs, it also means a strap can be traced back from you, its owner, via us as strap maker, back to its originating tannery and where the skin was harvested. As far as possible all of our skins are from wild caught animals taken as part of population control measures in Louisiana. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
